William A. "Bill" Markle, 78, of Dixie, WV, passed away Friday, July 6, 2012, surrounded by family, after a long illness.
Bill was born August 30, 1933, in Maysel, WV, to Norvel D. Markle and Maysel Mullins Markle. He was a 1952 graduate of Clay County High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, while stationed in Germany. Bill was retired from Exxon Mobil after 33 years of service as a truck driver. He was an avid West Virginia Mountaineer and Dallas Cowboy fan.
Bill also enjoyed camping, boating and traveling.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert "Wink" and Boyd, and his sister, Dortha Roop.
Bill is survived by his wife of 54 years, Loreine; daughter, Judith (Larry) Coffman of Weston; granddaughter, Lora (Brad) Snodgrass of Parkersburg; his pride and joy, great-granddaughter, Delaney Elizabeth Snodgrass; sisters, Charlotte (George) Johnson of Gauley Bridge and Barbara Truman of Surgoinsville, TN; and his brother, Broadus (Ella Mae) Markle of Maysel.
A graveside service will be held at 1 pm Monday, July 9, at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow, WV with Minister Roger Tinnel officiating.
Family and friends may visit from 5 to 8 pm Sunday, July 8, at Pennington Funeral Home, Gauley Bridge, to celebrate Bill's life.
