Shirley Austin Boles, 84, of Jodie, passed away peacefully from our lives on October 12, 2011.
Born in Jodie on March 14, 1927, he was the son of the late Shirley Ruffner Boles and Helena Mae Hess Boles. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Louise Morris and brother, Jimmy Boles.
He retired from Union Carbide Corporation where he was an electrician in the coal mines for 25 years. He also served in the U. S. Navy during World War II on the USS California. He was a member of the Jodie Baptist Church and enjoyed bluegrass music.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years, Mona Gaynell Harvey Boles, son, Kenneth
Austin Boles and wife, Debbie; daughter, Susan Tawney and husband, James; grandson, Kenneth
Austin (K.B.) Boles, II and wife, Miranda; three great-grandsons, Max, Luke and Will Boles; sisters, Carol Preast and Nina Keenan and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 11 am Saturday, October 15, 2011, at Jodie Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Shaffer officiating. Burial will follow in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 pm on Friday at Pennington Funeral Home, Gauley Bridge.
