Sandra "Sandy" C (Childers) Sparks

Sandra C. Childers Sparks “Sandy”, 71, of Falls View, went home to be with our Lord on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her family, at CAMC General Division, Charleston.

Sandy was born September 30,
1943 in Belva, to the late Carl H. and Helen Childers. In addition to  her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Susie J. Pierson; and two brothers, Jim and Dallas Childers.

She was retired from Mt. Olive
Correctional Complex after 15 years of service.

Sandy was a loving and devoted
mother, sister, grandmother and friend.  She
loved the Lord and our hearts loss is Heavens gain.

She enjoyed quilting, crossword
puzzles and gardening, and she was famous among her family and friends for her
love of a good practical joke.

She is survived by “her girls”,
Christine Sparks and Ellen Sparks of Falls View; Edwina Flare (Gerald) of Swiss
and Sarah Jo Sparks of Belva; sisters, Soneji Brown of Indore, Sharon Young
(Lynn) of Georgetown, KY, Becky Childers of Cleveland, TN, Snow Doss (Carlos)
of Georgetown, KY and Sharlene Glenn (Eddie) of Lexington, KY; grandchildren,
Jeremy Gray (Erin) of Adonijah, Josh Flare (Kim) of
Summersville, Melinda Hanshaw (Kenny) of Gauley Bridge and Jessica Lanham (JD)
of Bell Creek, great-grandchildren, Zachary and Sophie Gray, Cameron Perry, Kenneth and Isaac
Norton, Brandon, Jordon and Khloe Lanham; and her fur baby, Purrcy.

The family would like to thank Dr.
Justin Cohen and the staff at the David Lee Cancer Center and the 4 South
Doctors and Nursing staff at CAMC General Hospital for their excellent care. A
special thank you to CAMC General 4 South Nurse, Anita, for her gentle kindness
during mom’s last hours.

Funeral services will be at
1:00 PM on Saturday, March 7 at Pennington Funeral Home, Gauley Bridge, with
the Reverend Jason Skaggs officiating.

Friends may visit one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
