Sam, known to many as “Maniac”, was a long-time truck driver and was employed by Auxier Welding. He was a skilled and experienced driver who could back a trailer or parallel park like no other and enjoyed passing those driving lessons along to his family.
Beyond his professional career, he enjoyed the outdoors and loved to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed making our holiday ham and peanut butter fudge.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel K. Sanson and Bessie Bennett Sanson, sister Margaret Massey, brother Robert Sanson Sr., his wife Cathy Backus Sanson and nephew James Lanham.
He is survived by his wife, Edna Roop; children Jessica Haynes, Samantha Smith (Steve), Michael H. Roop (Misty) and Stephanie Roop (Ara); grandchildren, Nathan Haynes, Addie Smith, Michael J. Roop, Myla Roop and Amber Roop (Kenny); Sister Ruth Lanham (Tex); 1 niece, 4 nephews and 3 great grandchildren.
There will be no services per his wishes. The family will have a private burial at Montgomery Memorial Park and a celebration of life this summer.
The family would like to thank the nurses at CAMC Memorial Hospital Hospice Care and Staff, employees and great friends at Auxier Welding.
He will be missed by his loving family, friends and his hunting buddies on the lease.
