Robert Sargent Obituary

Robert Lee Sargent, 101, of Dixie, was returned to God by heavenly angels as his family sang and son-in-law played the violin, celebrating his life, on May 28, 2012, at Montgomery General Hospital.
Born on October 11, 1910, in Weston, he was the son of the late Walter Landon Sargent and Amanda Laverne Lee Sargent. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife; Mabel Ramsey Sargent; grandson, Brian Eastman, and special brother-in-law, Carl Ramsey.
Lee was retired from Union Carbide, Alloy, attended several Holiness churches, receiving the Holy Ghost when he was 25. He was a spiritual man, having a close walk with God. He recited poetry and played violin and harmonica. Patience was his quality and most of all he loved to serve the Lord. He was a member of the American Legion and was a World War II veteran, having served as a member of the US Army Air Corp from 1942 to 1945.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Madge (Charles) Brown of Dixie, Carl (Mary) Sargent of Middleport, NY, Clayton (Connie) Sargent of Boomer, Ina (Kenneth) Eastman of Ansted, Linda Richmond (Ron Alexander) of Glen Ferris, Maysel (Earl)Hughes of Dixie, Marilyn (Steve) Perry of Keslers Cross Lanes and Calvin (Debby) Sargent of Charlton Heights; special sister-in-law, Evelyn Moore of Belva; 21 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 1 pm Friday, June 1, 2012, at Pennington Funeral Home, Gauley Bridge, with Reverend Charles Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow in Montgomery Memorial Park, London, with military graveside rites conducted by Ansted VFW Post 7695.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Nurses and CNA's on the Extended Care Unit of the Hospital as well as the Nursing staff on the third floor of the Hospital who so lovingly and cheerfully cared for our father.
