Reba Ball Obituary

Reba Evelyn Elswick Ball was born on November 4, 1919 and sadly passed away on May 16, 2013 after a long illness. She was born in Blakely, West Virginia to Joseph and Melissa "Maggie" Elswick. She was the second oldest child of their nine children.

Reba has lived all of her life in West Virginia. In 1954, she opened Reba's Restaurant, located in Dixie, WV, where she was in business until she had to close the doors due to health reasons in 1972. Reba was well known for her chili dogs and hamburgers, as well as many other home-made recipes/meals.

She is a member of the Ida Missionary Baptist Church and was active in the Rebekah Lodge #79 until the illness of her husband Charles forced her to remain home with him. God called her husband Charles home in 1997; and due to her declining health, she has since sold the building that she use to call Reba's Restaurant. She has been residing in Montgomery General Hospital until her passing.

As for her family, she has a sister living still, Jean Winfree (husband Fritz Winfree) of Nags Head, NC; son Elmer Byrne (wife Kay Byrne) of Wellington, AL; step-son Charles O. Ball, Jr. (wife Cathy Ball) of Orange City, FL; step-daughter Barbara Bragg of Daytona Beach, FL; nine grandchildren; Terri Wilson, Thomas Byrne, Peggy Jo Byrne, Gregory Byrne, Michael Bragg, Meghan Bragg, Jeff Ball, Robbie Ball and Casey Ball; nine great-grandchildren, William Paris III, Joshua Paris, Kyle Wilson, Ryan Wilson, Alexandra Byrne, Emily Byrne, Colson Byrne, Dylan Bragg and Jayden Bragg; and one great-great grandchild Kay Paris. Sadly, she has seen the passing of her father, her mother, three brothers, four sisters, along with her husband, Charles.

Services will be held at 11a.m., Monday, May 20, 2013 at Pennington Funeral Home, Gauley Bridge with the Reverend Larry Skaggs and the Reverend Jeff Floyd officiating, burial will follow at the Huse Memorial Park in Fayetteville.

Friends may call on Sunday from 6-8 at the funeral home.
