Phyllis Pierce Obituary

Phyllis Jean (Hunter) Pierce, 90, of Glen Ferris, entered into rest September 24, 2011, at her home.
Born on February 15, 1921, in Logan, WV, she was the daughter of the late Garfield and Harriett Ella (Brockell) Hunter. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Ray Pierce, Sr., brothers and sisters, Averil Hunter, Stewart Hunter, Marie Gordon, Mary White, Jackie Canterbury and Eloise Adams.
She was a homemaker and a member of Riverview United Methodist Church, Glen Ferris, WV.
Survivors include her son, Col. Kenneth R. Pierce, Jr. of Seminole, FL; daughter, Phyllis Jean White of Glen Ferris; sister, Barbara Martin of Charleston; 7 grandchildren, John William Akers III of SC, Lt. Col. Kenneth Ray Pierce III of FL, Joe Pierce of IA, Ann Akers Douglas of FL, Christopher Pierce of HI, Elizabeth Pierce Cortez of FL, and Emily Graves of FL; 14 great-grandchildren and 22 nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 11 am Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at Riverview United Methodist Church, Glen Ferris, with Pastor Mark Skaggs officiating. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.
