Paul Eugene Young

Rev. Paul E. Young, 81 of Swiss, West Virginia went home to be with the Lord on September 21, 2023.

Paul was born on January 4, 1942. In addition to his parents, Madison “Dick” and Dessie Stephenson, he was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law Pansey and Orgil Miller and father and mother-in-law Cecil and Lula Preast.

Paul is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Carolyn M. Preast Young; sons, Joe (Beverly) Young and Rev. Timothy (Amy) Young; grandchildren, Joanna (Cody) Bryant, Bethany (Bubba) Frankenfield, Elizabeth Young, Addie and Christopher; great grandchildren, Cameron, Ryan, Joseph, Hayden and Jacob Andrew; numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews some of which called him “Popal Paul”. He loved his family.

Paul was a God-Fearing devoted Christian; he preached the Gospel for 60 years. Paul traveled to many states preaching and holding revivals. Paul was the Pastor of several churches over the years, Dundon, Pisgah, Bickmore and Leatherwood, he has been the Pastor of Alta First Church of God for the last 38 years. He was also a retired coal miner.

Special thanks to our nephew, Jerry Miller, Summersville Regional Memorial Hospital, The Hubbard House of Charleston and many families and friends who came, called and prayed for Paul and his family.

Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm on Sunday, September 24, 2023, at the Alta First Church of God, Alta (Fayette County) WV, visitation will be two hours prior to the service from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm with Rev. Timothy Young Officiating. A burial will follow in the Sunset Cemetery in Bickmore, WV.
