Nancy Louise Blankenship

Nancy Louise Morris Smith Blankenship (1941-2025)

Nancy, 84, of Bell Creek, WV entered into rest after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis on July 23, 2025.  

Nancy is preceded in death by her parents Charles Lunsford and Violet May Morris, along with two brothers and two sisters. Nancy is also preceded in death by two loving husbands, Bobbie Eugene Smith (d. 1973) and Arnold “Peach” Blankenship (d. 2003). Nancy is survived by five children: Teresa (Wayne) Keener of Lizemores, WV; Troy (Barbara) Smith of Bell Creek, WV; Robert (Debi) Smith of Hughes Creek, WV; Peggy Smith of Jodie, WV; and Chad (Lisa) Blankenship of Pond Gap, WV.  Nancy is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. 

Nancy’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the staff from the Extended Care Unit at Montgomery General Hospital for their love and care in her time spent there, especially her granddaughter Brittany Light, who loved and cared for Nancy selflessly. The family would also like to thank the nurses and staff at Thomas Memorial Hospital who kept her and her family comfortable in the last days of her life. 

Nancy will be remembered for the love she had for her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A public viewing for Nancy will be held Tuesday, July 29th at 11:30 am until 1:00 pm at Pennington Smith Funeral Home in Gauley Bridge, WV, funeral will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Nathan Johnson from Brownsville Holiness Church where Nancy worshipped officiating. Burial will follow at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow, WV.
