Marsha Ann Burford Angel
February 19,1946 – September 15, 2025
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Marsha Ann Burford Angel, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who peacefully went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 15, 2025, at the age of 79.
Born on February 19, 1946, in Cairo, Illinois, Marsha was the cherished daughter of Doris Crow Burford and Zane Burford. Although born in Illinois, she spent nearly her entire life as a Fayette County, West Virginia resident. She will be remembered for her kindness, unwavering devotion to family, and strong faith. She enjoyed life’s simple pleasures—spending time with loved ones, playing cards with family, relaxing on beach visits, going to the movies, and fellowship within her church community.
Affectionately called “Granny” by many, Marsha found her greatest joy in her family. She is survived by her son John Cameron Mills (Robyn) of Mount Carbon, WV; grandson Chase Cameron Mills of Oak Hill, WV; granddaughters Jenna Allen of Morgantown, WV and Jadyn Allen of Mount Carbon, WV; brothers Lee Burford of Garner, NC and Steve Burford (Della) of East Bank, WV; sisters-in-law Debbie Burford of Oak Hill, WV and Patty Burford of Beckley, WV; nieces and nephews Lorri Siemiacczko (Joey) of Garner, NC, Chris Burford (Holli) of Lookout, WV, Jason Burford of Oak Hill, WV, and Melissa Brewer (Chad) of Beckley, WV; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and her high school sweetheart and special friend, Dennis West of Clay, WV.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Doris and Zane Burford, brothers Rodney and Richard Burford, and nephew Tracy Burford.
A memorial celebration will be held on Sunday, September 28th at 4:00 p.m. at Pennington Smith Funeral Home in Gauley Bridge with visitation one hour prior to the service. Reverend Delbert Walker will officiate.
