Helen Childers Obituary

Helen Janese Taylor Childers, 93, of Belva, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2012, after a long illness.
Born May 6, 1919, in Wyndal, WV, Fayette Co., she was the daughter of the late Roy and Emma O'Dell Taylor.
Helen lived her entire married life in Belva, WV, in the same house she and her late husband, Carl H., built and raised their eight children.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sons, Jim Childers and Dallas Childers; grandsons, Mark Pierson and Jimmy Childers; brothers, Harry (Punch), Carl and Clyde; sisters, Mildred (Mid) Boothe and Betty Cole; son-in-law, Paul H. Brown; great-great-granddaugher, Olivia Cliver and great-great-grandson, Xyler Brown.
Helen was a member of the Bible Baptist Church, Belva, and various clubs and organizations in the area. She was one of the founders of the First Church of God of Alta, WV, in the l950's. She wrote the "Belva Area News" column for the Montgomery Herald for over forty years and also was a correspondent for the Nicholas Chronicle. She was a CNA at various nursing homes in the valley and Summersville Hospital. She was a member of the Home Extension.
Helen was very outgoing and never met a stranger. She loved singing hymns in Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She will surely be missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include daughters, Susie (Doug) Pierson of Falls View, Sonjie Brown of Indore, Sandy Sparks of Falls View, Sharon (Lynn) Young of Georgetown, KY, Becky (Victor) Hayes of Cleveland, TN, Snow Fern (Carlos) Doss of Georgetown, KY and Sharlene (Eddie) Glenn of Lexington, KY.
She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Pearl Taylor of Belva and Juanita Taylor of Ansted; one brother-in-law, Albert Boothe of Belva and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 1 pm Monday, December 3, 2012, at Pennington Funeral Home, Gauley Bridge, with Reverend Victor Hayes officiating. Burial will follow at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 pm on Sunday at the funeral home.
