Heather Dawn (Peck) Backus

Heather Dawn Backus, 45 of Jodie WV went home to meet Jesus on Friday February 23, 2024. Heather was born on March 6, 1978 to the late Donald and Melinda Peck. She is also preceded in death by a brother, Donnie Peck. 

Heather was married to the love of her life Brian (Scott) Backus for 28 years. She had a fighting spirit and showed true strength as she battled many illnesses over the years. Heather was a member of Sims Memorial United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and mother to her wonderful son Logan. She loved with her heart & soul and showed kindness to everyone around her. 

Heather is survived by her husband Brian (Scott) Backus & son Logan Backus of Jodie, sister in laws Beverly Roop of Summersville, Nancy(Jimmy) Jones of Jodie, Allison McClung of Jodie. Brother in laws Herbie(Beth) Backus of Twenty Mile, Eddie Backus of Lockwood. Sisters Nichole McClain of Gauley Bridge, and Tina Canterbury of Charleston West Virginia and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. 

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday February 28, 2024 at Sims Memorial United Methodist Church Swiss WV, 12:00 pm with the funeral immediately following at 1:00pm. Burial will be in the Rich Creek Cemetery, Jodie WV. Pennington Smith Funeral Home, Gauley Bridge is in charge of arrangements.
