Ms. Ethel Maxine Adkins, 93, of Gauley Bridge, passed peacefully on May 12, 2015 at Montgomery General Elderly Care, Montgomery, WV.
Born January 3, 1922 in Nallen, WV, she was the daughter of the late Weldon and Eliza Drake Adkins. She was a graduate of Nuttall High School and a former employee of The Diner in Gauley Bridge.
She was preceded in death by her daughters, Carla Adkins and Joan Queen; 3 brothers and 2 sisters and Jim and Jimmy Childers.
She is survived by daughter Valorie; her nieces whom she raised, Trudy Childers and Jeanie (Junior) Shamblin of Gauley Bridge and her sister, Audrey Martin of Gauley Bridge. She was "Granny" to John, Kelly, Evan, and Presley Shamblin, Tara, Lakelyn and Hayes Fowler, Kayla, Jason and Easton Treadway, Janessa Tilley, Davin, Jorgia, Ryleigh and McKinlee Childers, many other nieces and nephews and her son-in-law, Danny Queen.
Funeral service will be 1 P.M. Thursday May 14, 2015, at Pennington Funeral Home, Gauley Bridge, with Minister Jimmy Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Hill Cemetery, Belva, WV.
Friends may call 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank the staff at Montgomery General Elderly Care for taking such good care of Mother over the past 22 months.
