Earl Hubert Whiteside

Earl Hubert “Poppy” Whiteside, 84, of Gauley Bridge, entered into rest on Sunday, December 11, 2016.

Born July 25, 1932, he was the son of the late Ralph H. and Esther Griffin Whiteside, In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years: Patsy Long Whiteside,son: Cortney Whiteside and brother: Gene Whiteside.

Earl is survived by his sons: Michael (Christine) of Ft. Pierce, FL, Shawn (Cindi) of Rolesville, NC., Craig (Susan) of St. Albans, Jody (Amy) of Shrewsbury, Jeremy (Andrea) of Gauley Bridge; daughter: Lisa (Bill) McDermott of Gauley Bridge; brothers: Charles of Columbia Station, OH., Lloyd of Abingdon, VA.; sisters: Katherine Shay of Newport News, VA., Carol Bandy of Manchester, Tenn., Donna Massey of Abingdon, VA.; sixteen grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Earl was a member of Gauley Bridge Baptist Church, Ammiel Sunday School Class and Member of the Church Choir. He graduated from Ansted High School Class of 1950.

He was a Pipefitter for Elkem Metals for 43 years.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday December 17, 2016, at Gauley Baptist Church, with one hour visitation prior to service, with Ministers: Jason Skaggs and John Massey. Burial will follow in the Restlawn Memory Gardens, Victor, WV.

Friends may gather with the family 6 to 8 p.m. Friday December 16, 2016 at Pennington Funeral Home, Gauley Bridge, WV.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Memorial Fund at Gauley Bridge Baptist Church.
