Drema Ashley, 74, of Gauley Bridge, passed away at home.
Born April 8, 1943, in Vanetta, West Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Henry Prather and Ethel Carte Prather. In addition to her parents she was preceeded in death by her husband, Robert R. Ashley Jr.; daughter, Ava Ashley; and a sister, Carolyn Sue Speece.
Drema graduated from Gauley Bridge High School and attended Marshall University. She and Robert owned and operated the Gauneka Restaurant for many years. They moved to Huntington where Robert worked for the Corps Of Engineers. Drema was a member of Jodie Baptist Church where she had many friends she loved dearly.
Drema is survived by her daughters, Roberta Blevins (Richard) and Deborah Ashley both of Franklin Furnace, Ohio and Elizabeth White of Huntington; brothers, Larry Joe Prather Sr., of Gauley Bridge, Orville Carte (Melody) of Middlesburg, Flordia, and Roger Carte ( Clelia) of Barboursville; sister, Margie Salvado of Huntington; four grandchildren, Michael White, Hannah White, Chance Sims, and Abraham Blevins; four great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and friends; her beloved cat and companion, Samantha; also a special couple, the McLaughlins.
Services will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday July 14,2017, at Pennington Funeral Home, Gauley Bridge, with Minister Danny Sears officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethal Cemetery, Poe, WV
Friends may gather with the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
