Clifford Preast

Clifford Preast, 78 years old, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2026, following a short illness.

Born July 21, 1947, he was the son of the late Elzie O. Preast and Chessie Blankenship Preast.

Clifford was a long time resident of Gauley Bridge. He loved his “little” hometown, hot dogs and his bicycle. He also loved going to church. He attended Scrabble Creek Pentecostal Holiness Church, loved his pastor Michael Lanham who was also his brother-in-law.

He was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 5 sisters.

Survivors include his sister, Brenda of Gauley Bridge; brothers, Stanley Preast and Nadine of Locust, NC, Otis of Gauley Bridge and Robert and Gail of Montgomery, WV, aunts, uncles and cousins. Also, many friends, nieces and nephews.

Many “thank you’s” are being sent to “a special caregiver” Michelle and Cliff’s handyman, Roger Lanham, whom he thought, could fix anything. Also, to Dr. Shawn Strickland of Ansted.

Many thanks and much appreciation, being sent to Mr. BJ Smith and his fine staff.

Funeral Service will be 1:00 pm, Monday, January 12, 2026, at Pennington Smith Funeral Home, Gauley Bridge, WV, visitation with be one hour prior to the service from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm with Reverend Michael Lanham officiating. Burial will be in the Montgomery Memorial Park, London, WV.
