Charles Edward Foster, son of the late George Edward and Opal Geraldine (Brown) Foster was born November 29, 1951, and departed this life on Friday October 11, 2024, after a long illness. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He had joined the navy out of high school and his initial training after basic was at NAVSTA Great Lakes and then in Groton Ct. He qualified in nuclear-powered submarines where he served on the USS Billfish (SSN 676) until being honorably discharged. His military experience resulted in him continuing to work at the Groton Ct naval based as a civilian for a time after discharge. He then used his naval training on the barges navigating the Kanawha River to the Ohio and Mississippi rivers.
He is survived by his ex-wife Sharon Foster of Somersworth, CT, and his daughter Tiffany Foster (Ryan Hosted) of Fort Wayne, Indiana, his sisters Laura Foster (Scott Toney) of Gauley Bridge, WV, and Sarah Jurak (Emil) of Wichita, Kansas, his grandchildren Blake Hudnall, Chase Hudnall, Elsie Hosted and Colton Hosted all of Fort Wayne, IN, his nieces Miriam Savage (William) of Lake Worth, FL and Emily Toney of Gauley, Bridge, WV, his nephews E. Joseph Jurak of Hayesville, KS and Kenneth Toney of Gauley Bridge, WV, two great-nieces and two great-nephews.
