Camilla Sue Bird, 94, of Dixie, Fayette County, died at her home on Thursday, December 18, 2025, with her family by her side.
She was the daughter of the late Grafton and Julia Hypes. She was preceded in death by her husband Willie Ray Bird, sister Colleen Miller and brother Dale Hypes.
Camilla was a devoted wife of 61 years to her late husband Willie and a homemaker devoted to raising her children. She was a member of Laurel Fork Missionary Baptist Church.
Camilla is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her children: sons, Billy Bird and wife Sharon of Gauley Bridge, Steve Bird and wife Cindy of Left Hand; daughters Elaine Newland of Lizemores, Diana Legg and husband John of Fola, Linda Bird Sizemore of Dixie, Vicki Bird Wilson and husband Donnie of Chapel Hill, Tenn., Julie Bird of Dixie, and Jacqueline Bird Anderson and husband Randy of Catlettsburg, KY. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 12 great great grandchildren. Camilla is also survived by her brother Danny Hypes of Robertsville, Ohio.
A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, December 23rd, in the Mausoleum with burial following at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow with Pastor Landon T. Copley officiating. In lieu of flowers, her family asks that donations be made to a local animal shelter in Camilla's honor.
