Rev. Billy Morris, 80, of Dixie, West Virginia entered into eternal rest on Wednesday June 19th, 2024. He was a loving and beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who touched innumerable lives. He was a hardworking, honest man who provided for his family and community. He retired from Cannelton Coal Company after 38 years of service, while also faithfully serving as a minister for over 50 years.
Being an ordained minister within the Church of God since October 13th, 1977, he was a devoted and obedient servant for God, helping to lead many souls to Christ. He pastored at Drennen, Gilboa, Jodie, and Montgomery Churches of God in the past, and continued to pastor at Riverside Church of God in the present—up until the Lord decided to call him home. Although his soul is now at peace and he is eternally resting in the arms of God, where he strove to be for his entire life, he will be greatly missed by many people, especially his family.
Born on October 13th, 1943, he was the son of the late Garland ‘Bill’ Morris and Maysel Holcomb Morris. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife of 29 years Delana Tomlinson Morris and his son John Wayne Morris.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years Brenda Morris and his sister Carolyn (Carl) Morris of Mt. Nebo. He is also survived by his children—his son Eugene (Lois) Morris of Dixie, his daughter Angelia (Joe) Lilly of Nicholasville, KY., his son Kevin (Shannon) Bird of Jodie, and his daughter Crystal Bird of Cross Lanes; his grandchildren—Dustin (Anissa) Morris of Mt. Nebo, Marc Morris of Mt.
