Betty (Hartley) Hughes

Betty Hughes, 83, of Falls View, entered into rest July 3, 2014, at Montgomery General Extended Care Unit.

Born on June 19, 1931, in Fayette County, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Doris Gray Hartley. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul Hughes; sons, John Wayne Hughes and Roger Lee Hughes; granddaughters, Courtney Hughes and Ashley Hughes; grandson, Dustin Hughes; brother, Robert Hartley and sister, Doris Dawson.

She was a homemaker, an excellent cook, and a devoted hard-working mother of four. She loved being around family and couldn’t wait to have a great-grandchild. She enjoyed camping, vacationing , and being outdoors. She liked to visit with friends and relatives, and always wanted them to come and visit at her house. She was a faithful member of Boomer Baptist Church and will be dearly missed by all her loved ones.

Survivors include her daughter, Tammy (Adam) Brown of Belva; son, Larry (Natalie) Hughes of Hico; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Hughes; brother, Jerry Hartley of Virginia Beach and sister, Helen Bailes of Ravenswood; grandchildren, Austin Brown, Bronson Brown, Collin Brown, Jordan Hughes, Paul Michael Hughes, Megan Hughes and great-grandson, Hayden Hughes.

Funeral service will be 3 pm on Sunday, July 6, 2014 at Boomer Baptist Church, with Reverend James Neeson officiating. Friends may call from 1:30 to 3:00 pm prior to the service at the Church.

Burial will follow in Restlawn Memory Gardens, Victor.

Because of the excellent care and compassion that was shown to our mother during her stay at the Extended Care Unit, we are asking that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Montgomery General Extended Care Unit, Activities Department, 401 Sixth Avenue, Montgomery, WV  25136.
