Betty Lee (Burton) Crites

Betty Lee (Burton) Crites, 83, of Atoka, TN, formerly of Glen Ferris, WV, passed peacefully away, at home with family, in the early hours of Sunday, August 11, 2024.

Born in Ansted, WV, she was the daughter of the late Owen C. Burton and Gretis L. (Raines) Burton.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Carol Mays (Fred), and Joy Smith.

Blessed with a beautiful smile and kind heart, she was very active in her church and spent her free time gardening, planting flowers, riding her bicycle, taking care of her pets, and watching the hummingbirds come to the feeders. Remembering the view from her front porch in Glen Ferris, she often said she grew up with a million-dollar view. She worked for the United States Navy as a Military Pay Specialist for over 25 years. She loved working with the military, and made a lasting impression with all those she served and worked with.

Left with wonderful memories of her include her beloved sons, Timothy (Anna) Crites and Ryan Crites; five grandchildren, Ashley Crites, Cassie Gouldthorpe, Brody Crites, Christopher Moore, and Andrea Bergeson; and eight great-grandchildren, Emma Hebert, Quinn Moore, Logan Bergeson, Bailey Hebert, Owen Moore, Emery Bergeson, Knox Gouldthorpe and Rip Gouldthorpe.

Service will be at 10:00 am Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Pennington Smith Funeral Home, 331 Main St, Gauley Bridge, WV. Friends are welcome to gather beginning at 9:00 am for visitation. She will be laid to rest beside her parents and sisters at Restlawn Memory Gardens, Victor, WV following the services.
