Melody Teresa Kincaid Reames, 63, of Gauley Bridge, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston, after a brief battle with cancer.

Born November 21, 1955, in Montgomery, she was the youngest child of the late William “Bill” and Jeanette (Boyce) Kincaid.    In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her brothers, William “Bucky’” Melvin and Roger Kincaid; and grandsons, Justin Reames and Christian Quinonez.

While processing her belongings, we stumbled across what appears to be hand-written outline for an obituary that was used to compose the following.

Teresa grew up in Gauley Bridge, attending Gauley Bridge High School until she married Jerry Reames of Ellinwood, KS, June 15, 1973 in Boomer. Later they divorced, her hardworking ethic enabled her to be a successful Tupperware and Lady Finelle Dealer, Owner/operator of the family full service gas station, in home day care service, heavily involved and registered Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts leader, Navy and Marine Corps Relief Society office manager,  Sunday School teacher, home sponsor for Japanese orphans, Command Military Ombudsman, foster parent, PTO parent, Red Cross Volunteer and a board member of the Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni base Exchange and Commissary in Japan.  Despite all this, mom records, “My best accomplishment: I have Jerry Reames Jr., Chad Reames and Shelly Reames Gillenwater.  I’m a single Grammy of 17 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.  I love my family whether they want it or not.”

Melody is survived by her sons, Jerry Ronald Reames Jr of Greenwood, LA, Chad Eric Reames of Rand; daughter, Shelly Anette Gillenwater of Griffiths Ville; fifteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild; sister, Louie Cooper of Norfork, VA; brother, Charles Kincaid of Sissonville.

Friends may gather with family for a memorial service at 5:00 P.M. Friday, January 25, at Gauley Bridge Baptist Church.
