Norman Ratliff, 75, of Clay, entered into rest Tuesday, October 17, 2006, at Hubbard Hospice House.
Born on February 2, 1931, at Strange Creek, WV, he was the son of the late Thomas Thurman and Nancy Ratliff. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by three brothers, Luther, Orvin, and Ishmael, and one sister, Orpha Cummings.
He was a former employee of Roseville Charcoal Manufacturing Company, Elswick Lumber and Georgia Pacific; an Army veteran, having served in the Korean conflict, where he was awarded the Purple Heart, one medal (Japan) and the Korean Service Medal with 4 bronze stars. and attended the Clay Community Church.
Survivors include his wife, Georgia Ratliff of Clay; sons, Kenneth of Medina, OH, Thomas of Clay, Delbert of Ivydale, Steve of Clay, and Stanley of Nebo; daughter, Ruth Schomos of Brunswick, OH; brother, Thurmond of Duck Creek, WV; sisters, Norma Houghton of Strange Creek, Junie Myers of Harrison, and Enna Harvey of Canton, OH; 10 grandchildren; l great-grandchild.
Funeral service will be 11 am Thursday, October 19, 2006, at Carl Wilson Funeral Home, Clay, with Minister Larry Skaggs officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Bickmore.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.
