Orval Kenneth "Smokey" Paxton, 82, of Wallback passed away Saturday, February 21, 2009 at home following a short illness.
Smokey was born April 10, 1926 in Clay County, and was the son of the late Oscar Winfield and Gertie Jane Paxton of Wallback. He was also preceded in death by his two sons, Orval Kenneth "Joe Joe" Paxton, Jr. and Mark Allen Paxton, grandsons Michael Butcher and Ronald Glen Holcomb Jr.
He was retired for Union Carbide of Alloy, WV. He served in the U.S. Army and was a WWII Veteran. He was a long standing member of the Odd Fellows Lodge of Clay.
Smokey is survived by his wife of 60 years Pearl Paxton of Wallback; daughters and sons-in-law Veronica and Mike Butcher of Clay, Shelly and Jimmy Stalnaker of Wallback, Denise and Timmy Brown of Wallback; sons Brian Paxton of Valley Fork, James Paxton of Wallback, son and daughter-in-lawJohn Paul and Jennifer Paxton of Wallback, 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, brother Ralph Paxton of Florida, and sister Elma Butcher of Big Otter.
A private family service will be held.
