James H. Morton, 62, of Adonijah, Clay, Co., died on Jan 21, 2006 at CAMC Memorial after a short illness. When God called him home, he was reunited with his loving wife of 32 years Sharon Nichols Morton, his parents Allen " Fairbanks" and Eva Bird Morton, his brother Earnest and sister Dorothy Mae and a host of family and friends.
James was retired coal miner, having worked last at High Power Energy in Drennen.
He was an avid outdoors man and loved hunting and ginsenging. He was the owner of Adonijah Enterprises, which specialized in log-grown Shiitake mushrooms. He was such a talented man. He loved playing the guitar and listening to Blue Grass and Country music. His pride and joys were his grandsons. They learned so much from him, in the short time they had him. James was loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
He is survived by his Son-in-Law and daughter, Scott and Angela Burkhamer of Adonijah, grandsons Alexander James and Bryan Scott Burkhamer of Adonijah, brother
And sister-in-law Kester and Viola Morton of Adonijah, several nephews, nieces, and friends. He was known as Poppy to his God Children. James was very proud of all of them. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006 at Laurel Fork Missionary Baptist Church, with Minister Naamon Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Adonijah Community Cemetery, Adonijah.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at Carl Wilson Funeral Home, Clay.
