David L. Long, 60, of Belva, WV, passed away July 25, 2012 following a short illness.
He was a retired coal miner of Alpha Recourses, Captain of Gauley River Volunteer Fire Department, where he had been a member for 37 years, and also volunteered for many years at Valley Ambulance.
He was pre-deceased by 1st wife Libby Long; parents, Vernon and Hattie Long; birth mother and stepdad, Argatha and Harry Messinger; brother, Clarence Conley and sister, Virginia Wood. Surviving is his wife, Diana Long; son, Tony Long of Beech Glen; daughter, Cheryl (Todd) Bush of Jodie; grandchildren, Melanie Long, Abigail Long and Ivaline Rose; sisters, Ida (Dennis) Brightwell of Akron, OH, Darlene (Ed) Hovatter of Akron, OH, Betty Kaledas of Mulberry, FL; brothers, John (Darla) Conley of Coshocton, OH, Junior (Marlene) Conley of Chloe, WV, Richard Conley of Spencer, WV and Paul (April) Messinger of Canton, OH; several nieces, great nieces, and nephews, whom he was very proud of.
Special thanks go to Dr. G.Thakker, and his nurse Shirley, Dr. Ni Gorsuch and all the nurses and doctors at David Lee Cancer Center & CAMC Memorial-CCU.
Funeral service will be 12 noon Sunday July 29th 2012, at Pennington Funeral Home, Gauley Bridge, WV, with Reverend Lee Holliday and Reverend Richard Harold officiating.
Burial will follow at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens Glasgow, WV.
Friends may call from 6-8 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
