Russell Brooks Legg, Sr., 92, of Indore entered into rest on April 6, 2005, at CAMC-Memorial Division.
He was born on September 1, 1912, to Bernard Breckenridge Legg and Lilly Cline Legg. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Monica Marie Moore Legg; daughter, Carolyn Cruikshank; infant son, Frederick Wayne Legg, five brothers and four sisters.
For many years, he was owner/operator of Brooks Legg General Merchandise Store at Indore. He was a World War II Navy veteran and a deacon in the Indore Baptist Church, a master turkey hunter, and had hunted big game in Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado. He had also served on the Clay County Board of Education for 14 years.
He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-laws, Dr. R. Brooks Legg, Jr. and Diann of Lizemores and Kenneth Duane Legg, Sr. and Kathy of Indore; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and James Blaney, son-in-law, Telford Cruikshank of Big Otter; grandchildren, T. G. Cruikshank and his wife, Angie, Duane Legg, Jeanne Carson and her husband, Eric, Jonathan Legg, Sally Ann Cruikshank, Lydia Legg and James Brooks Legg; great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Paige, Sierra, and Tyler; brother, William Legg of Burford, GA; and sister, Pauline Pratt of Montgomery.
Graveside service will be 1 pm Saturday, April 9, 2005, at the Cline Cemetery, Indore, with Minister Paul Stepp officiating, followed by military rites conducted by Clay VFW Post 4419.
There will be no visitation.
The funeral procession will leave the Indore Baptist Church at 12:45 p.m.
