Dennis Berlin James, 63, of Big Otter, died unexpectedly on December 7, 2005, at his workshop at home.
Born on May 26, 1942, at Dink, WV, he was the son of the late Fred and Dessie Ashley James.
He retired from General Motors in 1993.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and restoring antiques. He was a founding member of the Big Otter Volunteer Fire Department, an active member of the Nebo Baptist Church, and a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Phyllis Matheney James; sons, Allen and family of Fitzgerald, GA and David and wife, Brandie, of Horner, WV; daughters, Dorene Crawford and family of Akron, OH and Denise and John of Dearing, GA; brother, Gary of Mogadore, OH, and his mother-in-law, Marie Matheney of Ivydale; 6 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Big Otter Volunteer Fire Department in his honor.
Funeral service will be 2 pm Sunday, December 11, 2005, at Carl Wilson Funeral Home, Clay, with Minister Darius Arnold and Pastor Dewey Tanner officiating. Burial will follow in the McLaughlin Cemetery, Rush Fork.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 pm on Saturday at the funeral home.
