Myrtle C. Hughes, 96, of Clay, died in Thomas Memorial Hospital Saturday, December 25, 2004. She was born June 22, 1908 to the late William E. and Frona Butcher. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, William Dane Hughes, son, Orval J. Hughes; brothers, Woodrow Butcher and Flemings Butcher; sisters, Gladys Gibson and Jean Beer. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in- law, Eloise and Vince Puglisi of Wheeling, WV, and Shirley and Herald Blair of Charleston, WV; brother, Walter Butcher; sisters, Jessie Facemire, Irene Pelfrey, and Earlene Kismore; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Myrtle was a member of the Fairview Baptist Temple, Anne Bailey Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, American Rose Society, Clay Garden Club, and the West Virginia University Extension Service. Funeral Service will 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 30, 2004 at Carl Wilson Funeral Home, Clay, with Pastor John Day officiating. Burial will be in the Clay Memorial Gardens, Clay.
