Lawrence Berton Happney, 84, of Bickmore, entered into rest July 28, 2006, at home.
Born on November 1, 1921, in Vaughan, he was the son of the late Albert and Nellie Happney. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Jackie Leonard Happney; brother, Damon Happney, and sister, Opal Brown.
He was a retired laborer from the West Virginia Department of Highways, a
U. S. Army Veteran of WWII, having served in the European Theater, a member of Clay VFW Post 4419, and attended Lick Fork Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Gay Happney of Bickmore; children, Junior Happney of Bickmore, Jimmie Happney of Fayetteville, NC, Patricia Happney of Marlinton, Alice Whipkey of Charleston, Nellie McKown of Wallback, Sharron Schrader of Lenoir City, TN, and John Happney of Hopewell, VA; 15 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 10 am Monday, July 31, 2006, at Carl Wilson Funeral Home, Clay, with Minister Herbert Vance officiating. Burial will follow in the Holcomb Cemetery, Indore, with military graveside rites conducted by Clay VFW Post 4419.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 pm on Sunday at the funeral home.
