Roy N. Hamrick, 81, of North Palm Beach, FL, died Monday, February 14, 2005.
He was born on February 17, 1924, in Ivydale, WV.
He served his country in the U. S. Navy during WWII, completing two tours of duty, first in the South Pacific and then Japan.
He was married to the late Phyllis June Lambert of Bud, WV. They moved to Riviera Beach, FL, in 1955, where he owned Roy's Barber Shop in Lake Park, Western Auto of Indiantown, and the Island Queen Motel and apartments on Singer Island. Roy had a lifelong love of bowling, competing in league play at Garden Lanes, Riviera Lanes and Verdes in West Palm Beach. He progressed to Senior bowling champion.
Surviving are his beloved daughter, Terri Lynn Hopper; three adored grandchildren, Thomas Martin Hopper II, Elissa Roi Hopper, and Brianna Lynne Hopper; his favorite baby sister, Betty Friend and husband, Lantie, of Ivydale; James A. and Mary Lambert of Moundsville, WV, Bobby and Gaye Murray of Spring Lake, NC, Jim and Virgie Woods of Yellowsprings, OH.
He was endearingly known as "Uncle Roy" to many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 2:30 pm on Friday, February 18, 2005, at Carl Wilson Funeral Home, Clay. Burial will follow in the Douglas Cemetery, Ivydale.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
