Mrs. Mildred Dobbins, 81, of Burleson, TX, formerly of Clay County, was called home to Heaven on Sunday, February 22, 2004, at a local hospice house in Burleson.
She was born March 18, 1922, in Clay, West Virginia, the daughter of James Arthur Holcomb, Jr., and Phoebe Dovie Jones Holcomb. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her first husband, Tommy Asseff, and her second husband, Albert Dobbins.
Mrs. Dobbins was a lifelong resident of Clay, and for 40 years owned and operated Friendly Department Store in Clay with her first husband, Tommy Asseff. She was a member of Clay United Methodist Church and a member of the church choir. Other membersips included the Order of The Eastern Star and the Rebekah Lodge.
She is survived by sons, Taman McCall of North Hollywood, CA, David Asseff and wife, Kathy, of Charleston, and George Asseff of Clay; daughters, Phoebe Ramsey of Kent, OH, and Mary Witty and husband, Fred, of Burleston; brother, Worder Holcomb of Lizemores; sister, Rose King of Drennen, WV; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, several special nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 2 pm on Friday, February 27, 2004, at Carl Wilson Funeral Home, Clay. Burial will follow in Clay Memorial Gardens, Clay.
Friends may call two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
